Ping - free internet iPhone to iPhone text messaging app
Ping saves you money. It costs you every time you send a text. Your monthly allowance goes down each time and when you exceed your limit you then get charged. Ping is an app for the iPhone that sends text over the internet rather than sending them over the mobile phone system. Sending text over the internet is free. This is especially useful if you are going abroad. To send a text from outside the UK costs you the equivalent of four texts off your allowance for each message.

To send a text using the Ping app the other person must also have Ping loaded on their iPhone. Once you download the free Ping application, you set up a Ping ID username. You can invite others from within the app over email as the developer included the ability to send a pre-prepared e-mail to your choice of contacts with information on how to obtain Ping! and contact you. It lets them know your username. Once you start a conversation, it’s very similar to texting except it’s free, and instant. You must realise that you cannot send a text message to anyones phone. They have to have the same Ping app. One of the options is to set up whether you want push notifications or not.
