How to use Apples’s podcast app
Most people who have an iPhone do not know what a podcast is or how to get one and listen to it. Podcasts are fantastic. There are hundreds to choose from on a whole range of subjects. I use them all the time going to work or in the gym instead of listening to music. A pod cast is like listening to a recorded radio program.

You can download them on your iPhone but it is easier to search for the podcasts you want when you are sitting in front of a computer. Open up Apples iTunes by clicking on the icon on your computer. On the left of the screen that appears you should see the word Podcast. Click it and in the search box type in a word that describes one of your interests. I like history, photography, IT and travel. There are podcasts on sport, gardening, art, geography, science, music, comedy, news, entertainment and many more subjects.

When you find what you like click the down load button. You can also click the subscribe option. This will automatically down load the most up to date podcast without you having to do anything. Connect your iPhone to your computer and synchronise your iPhone by pressing the sync button.

Tap the orange iPod button on the front screen of your iPhone. On the menu that appears tap Podcasts. You should then see a list of the podcasts you down loaded to your computer that have been transferred to you iPhone. Just tap the series of podcasts you want to listen to and it will list all the episodes that are available. When you sync your phone again it will down load new episodes.

I find the iPhone Podcasts brilliant for keeping in touch with all the latest news from Microsoft, Google, Cloud Computing, Iphone app reviews and travel. I also enjoy podcast programs on history. The BBC History Magazine and the website Things they didn’t teach you in history class produce fascinating podcasts. You can also learn a language by downloading podcasts. Podcasts are such a great way to learn. A new development is the increasing amount of video podcast that are becoming available. It is like having a TV video recorder on your iPhone. You can also buy Audio books on iTunes and listen to them the same as you would a podcast.
