The iRail Europe app is free. Other railway timetable apps will cost you’re a lot of money and are not as good. It is very simple to operate. Your just type in your station of departure and your destination. You have an option to plan your route via a specific station. You set your departure time and date using a simple tumbler wheel system.

The iRail Europe app will also provide you with a route map. It has a ‘Departures Board’ and an ‘Arrivals Board’ button. These list the published arrivals and departures from the railway station you have typed in.

One button I use a lot is the one that looks like a snake. What it does is change around the destination and departure stations that are typed into the search boxes. This saves you a lot of typing as at the tap of this button you can get the times of your return trip instantly. What is so cool about this app and makes it superior to other apps is that it covers rail travel to Europe.
